‘Like a Butterfly Passing Onwards’ is the debut album by EME with Diane Roblin, born from an initiative by Francesco De Ficchy, who brought the ensemble together and invited Diane Roblin to join them, giving rise to a musical encounter entirely based on instant composition.
A large and fluid ensemble brings acoustic, electric and electronic instruments into relation within a process in which form emerges through mutual listening, gesture and collective response. All tracks are created in real time, without a predetermined hierarchy between the different instrumental voices.
Francesco De Ficchy takes part in the recordings on mono theremin and is also responsible for the project’s art direction. The album is dedicated to his memory and to the continuing presence of his music and teaching in the work of the group.
